Beginner guide in building a PC
๐จ Step 1: Pick Your Parts (The Shopping List)
►CPU (Processor) – The brain of your PC. Choose one based on performance needs (e.g., Intel Core i5/i7 or AMD Ryzen 5/7).
►Motherboard – The backbone. Make sure it supports your CPU (check the socket type) and has enough ports.
►RAM (Memory) – Helps with multitasking. 16GB is a good start.
►Storage (SSD/HDD) – SSD for speed, HDD for extra space. Get at least a 500GB SSD.
►Graphics Card (GPU) – Needed for gaming or video editing (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD). If just for basic use, the CPU’s built-in graphics may be enough.
►Power Supply (PSU) – Choose a reliable one with enough wattage (e.g., 500W-750W for most builds).
►Case – The box that holds everything. Make sure it fits your parts.
►Cooling (Optional) – Some CPUs come with coolers. If you plan to overclock, get an aftermarket cooler.
๐ง Step 2: Prepare Your Workspace
►Find a clean, static-free surface.
►Use an anti-static wrist strap (optional) to avoid damaging parts.
►Have a screwdriver ready.
๐️ Step 3: Install the CPU on the Motherboard
►Lift the CPU socket latch and carefully place the CPU (match the triangle corner).
►Do not force it—it should fit naturally.
►Secure the latch back down.
❄️ Step 4: Attach the CPU Cooler
►If it has pre-applied thermal paste, just mount it and screw it down.
►If not, apply a pea-sized drop of thermal paste before mounting.
๐ Step 5: Install RAM
►Find the RAM slots on the motherboard.
►Push down the side clips and insert the RAM sticks firmly until they click.
๐ Step 6: Install Storage (SSD/HDD)
►SSD (M.2) – Slide into the M.2 slot and screw it in.
►SATA SSD/HDD – Mount it in the case and connect SATA cable to the motherboard.
๐ฎ Step 7: Install the Graphics Card (GPU) (If Needed)
►Find the PCIe x16 slot on the motherboard.
►Remove the slot covers on the case.
►Insert the GPU until it clicks and screw it in.
►Connect the power cable (if required).
⚡ Step 8: Connect the Power Supply (PSU)
►Mount the PSU in the case.
►Connect cables:
๐น24-pin to the motherboard.
๐น8-pin (or 4+4) CPU power.
๐น6/8-pin GPU power (if needed).
๐นSATA power for SSD/HDD.
๐ Step 9: Connect Case Wires (Front Panel, USB, Audio)
►Find the front panel connectors on the motherboard.
►Plug in power/reset buttons, USB, and audio cables (check the motherboard manual for placement).
๐ Step 10: Power On and Test
►Plug in the monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
►Press the power button. If it boots, great! If not:
๐นCheck all connections.
๐นListen for beeps or error lights on the motherboard.
๐นTry booting with one RAM stick if there’s no display.
๐พ Step 11. Install the Operating System (Windows/Linux)
►Insert a USB drive with Windows/Linux.
►Boot from it and follow installation steps.
